Finances and Budget

The generosity of our members and community supporters in providing donations is a key factor in the strength of our organisation.

If you, or others you know, are in a position to make a donation, it will be sincerely appreciated. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

For calendar year 2007 we have set ourselves the target of raising an additional $35,000 from non-government sources to complement the $35,000 we have received from the Australian Government.

Our plans for where this income will come from include:

  • $10,000 from membership contributions from service providers, organisations and interested persons (500 new members at $20 each)
  • $10,000 from donations from family members (an average of $20 each from 500 donations)
  • $15,000 from philanthropic foundations

In the first six months of 2008, leading up to the beginning of the 2008/09 financial year on 1 July, 2008, we aim to have generated an annual income in the order of $140,000 per year.

This goal for 2008/09 is ambitious and before we can seriously consider this $140,000 per year goal, we will need to work hard to achieve our initial $70,000 per year goal for the 2007 calendar year.

The priorities for deployment of new income are outlined in the Organisational Chart on page 5 of our Business Plan, including the employment of a paid worker with a job description devoted to policy and advocacy work.
